Most of these lines have their starting point in the Transport Interchange in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on May 3rd Avenue.

Communication takes place via the sea port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, from where ferries depart to the eastern islands of the archipelago and Cadiz. It is also the port for tourist cruises on the route from the Atlantic or Mediterranean. Goods in question are the cargacontenedores ships, fishing boats and tankers to supply the oil refinieria of the city. It is one of the ports of Spain with the most traffic of freight and passengers, available along 10 km of coastline, with five docks that have a deep draft, one of the largest in the country.

On June 2nd 2007 there came into operation, Tenerife Tram, which runs on line 1 through much of the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz. Its departure is located in the exchange next to the courts of the capital. On May 30th 2009, they built line 2, which connects with the heart of La Cuesta Tinca. Lines 3 and 4 are planned. Also, they are expected to split a high-speed railway highway parallel to the south as far as Playa de las Americas, in the municipalities of Adeje and Arona. Its construction is scheduled to begin in 2008.
